Days ago, a video went viral on social media of a 5-years old boy, Tajudeen Ibrahim Agbabiaka who in the video couldn’t converse or respond in English as he was instructed to, which elicited abusive words from his interviewer.
This video elicited reactions from the Nigerian blogsphere including Nigerian celebrities. Actress, Fummi Awelewa led the search to fish out the boy from the slums of Ibadan. Celebrities like AY, Funke Akindele, Mo Abudu and Don jazzy indicated interest and showed support in the welfare of Taju by making donations to send him to school and make life better for him.
Viewing his various visits and encounters with celebrities you wouldn’t help but notice that Taju is a free-spirited,smart and cheerful young lad who needs love and guidance.
Up until recently, Taju was handed over to the Oyo State government led by Ajibola Ajimobi which left people questioning the reason behind this action as top celebrities has shown interest in him. Actress, Fummi Awelewa took to her social media page to explain the reason behind this action saying that since the video went viral, the family wants to exploit the opportunity rather than seeking the progress and welfare of Taju. However, the state government has taken responsibility and custody of Taju through the child welfare unit of the state government.
This is a call to Nigerians that there are many ‘Tajus’ amongst us and inputting our various little resources together will go a long way in ensuring that our children are in school.
